With all the hustle and bustle of our morning routines it can be challenging to make the time to exercise. However, exercising in the morning is a wonderful way to create a healthy routine. Working out in the morning provides many benefits beyond just keeping you healthy and fit.

  1. Long Term Benefits of Morning Workouts

Research shows that when you exercise in the morning you are more consistent than those who exercise later in the day. Our bodies opt for routine. If you commit to getting yourself up when your alarm goes off, your body will thank you in the long run. You will also feel more rested and energized to take on the day.

  1. Fewer conflicts

How many times have you planned on working out after work and your plans fell short because something came up?  By getting your workout in early, you are less likely to skip your workout. This also helps free up your evening for other fun activities later in the day.  Instead of scrambling to finish your “to do” list and missing another workout just plan your workouts first thing in the morning!

  1. Enhance productivity

Working out increases your productivity, gets your endorphins going while boosting your energy. You will feel more alert and ready to tackle your day when you workout in the morning. Working out can also increase your mental clarity and focus for four to then hours post-exercise.

  1. Ignite metabolism

The benefits of exercise linger well after your workout is finished. Exercise ignites your metabolism and helps you burn calories even after your workout is finished. This “after burn” effect helps keep your metabolism ignited. You will be burning more calories throughout the day while feeling more energized to win the day when you workout in the morning!

  1. Improve sleep

Studies have shown that women and men who regularly exercise in the morning sleep better than those who routinely exercise in the evening. Since exercise stimulates your mind and body, exercising at night can cause you to toss and turn during bedtime making it more difficult to fully relax and drift into restful sleep.

  1. Improved diet.

By knocking out your exercise first thing in the morning  your diet and nutrition choices will improve throughout the day. You will be proud of your efforts which will limit the chances of sabotaging your diet.  Instead, you will want to continue your positive choices by eating foods that make you feel healthy and energized.
