A TABATA Workout is FAST, EFFECTIVE and INTENSE! 

A Tabata workout is a High Intensity Interval workout (HIIT) that ignites metabolism, boosts lean muscle growth while burning fat for up to 4 hours AFTER you’re workout! This “After Burn” effect is what makes a Tabata Workout so effective! 

You continue to burn calories even when your workout is wrapped. As opposed to traditional cardio, 30 + minutes of a steady pace on an elliptical, treadmill, stair master or even a jog.  Yes, even a long run doesn’t burn calories the way a Tabata workout does…. 

WHY TABATA TRAINING?

I like to break up my Tabata training either into 4 minute rounds or by 8 total sets.  Either format, you will repeat each exercise for 20 seconds, take 10 second rest between each set.

THE TABATA FORMUAL:

  • Work out hard for 20 seconds
  • Rest for 10 seconds
  • Complete 8 rounds

Push yourself as hard as you can for 20 seconds and rest for 10 seconds. This is one set. You’ll complete eight sets of each given exercise.

Remember, those 20 seconds require 100% MAX effort! If you really want to see the best results then you have to give it your all.

WHAT EXERCISES SHOULD I BE DOING? 

You can do pretty much any exercise with the Tabata formula. My  Tabata Torch program is one my clients most requested workout.  I get so many requests for this 30-minute workout NOT because it’s short but because it’s effective. You can break your whole week down into Tabata workouts.  Cycling anything from squats, push-ups, burpees, Kettlebell swings, front squats, deadlifts, you name it!

THE HISTORY OF TABATA 

The Tabata Method was discovered by Japanese scientist  Dr. Izumi Tabata and his team of researchers from the National Institute of Fitness and Sports in Tokyo. Dr. Izumi Tabata and his team of researchers conducted a study on two groups of athletes.  

Group A trained five days per week for six weeks. They worked out at a moderate level, similar to traditional cardio for an entire hour. 

Group B trained at a High-Intensity level for only 20 minutes, 4 days per week for six weeks. The formula, 20 seconds on, 10 seconds off… 

TABATA TEST RESULTS:

Group A increased their aerobic (cardiovascular) system but showed little or no results for their anaerobic system (muscle). Group B showed a much higher increase in their aerobic system than Group A. They also showed an increase in their anaerobic system by 28 percent.

SO, WHY TABATA WORKOUTS?

All-in-all, who doesn’t want to train smarter not harder?  A Tabata workout will get you results whether your goal is to lose weight, burn fat or build lean muscle. Tabata Training, or any High-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout has more beneficial impact on both the aerobic and anaerobic systems.
